The first issue is out now, and if you are a die-hard AC fan, you should check it out for the art and story direction. Having lost interest last year around the time of Unity, the writing by Anthony Del Col and Conor McCreery has me interested to see where they take the franchise and the universe at large. Getting used to her new ancestor and the Animus, Charlotte finds, will be quite the challenge.Ī good start for a tie in book, this book actually made me intrigued again for the franchise. When she arrives, she witnesses the Animus, and her first trip in hooks her up with an ancestor from the period of the Salem Witch Trials in 1692 (with borrowed character names from Arthur Miller’s The Crucible). She is attacked by Templar agents from World Share, but escapes to the Salton Sea base of the Assassins. After a failed interview at World Share, an illegal monetary transfer at the bank she is employed at, and a trip home, Charlotte quickly becomes caught up in the struggle between the Brotherhood and the Templars when two members, Xavier Chen and Galina Voronina arrive to recruit her because of her Assassin blood. Thinking that the Helix is just a game, Charlotte lives out a droll existence as a bank teller, down on her luck, but with hopes of working for a big company in hopes of changing the world for the common people in developing countries. Speaking of our main character, Charlotte loves playing inside the virtual world that fans saw in Black Flag. With Neil Edwards providing some stellar art work, fans can expect a glimpse into the game’s world through the eyes of a new character, Charlotte de la Cruz, as the war between the Brotherhood of Assassin’s and the Templars rages on.
